Leg Lamp
November 6th, 2009 in reader's closetFor Halloween 2009 I came to work dressed as the leg lamp from the movie "A Christmas Story." Balancing on one leg all day was the biggest challenge.
I wanted most of my legs covered so that when I bent one knee, it would look like I only had one leg. Based on that size I made a pattern for a single panel. I used Wonder Under to bond the yellow fabric to gimp (in order to have it hold it's shape). After I cut out 8 panels, I sewed them together with a flat felled seam. I used boning in the hem and neckline to stiffen it. The black fringe at the bottom was what helped everyone know what I was.
