Fabric stays clean and is easily seen.
Fabric can be stacked and is protected. You can even put notes about the type of fabric inside that can be easily read.

This is a great way to recycle those zippered plastic bags that sheets and blankets come in. I've always saved them thinking I'd find a use someday. Keeping fabric in these allows the fabric to be protected from dust and moisture. Plus the fabric is easily seen and can be stacked on a shelf. I've even put notes inside to remind me of something I don't want to forget about the particular fabric.

So don't throw those zippered bags away. It's a small way of "greening" fabric storage.
