I've been sewing nearly all my life, though not seriously until I was about 18. I mainly sew my own clothes but I can sew everything from curtains to quilts. I'm currently trying to find a way to modernize the old fashioned. I'm not much into dresses but I love the Regency era (1810 - 1840) you know Jane Austen's Pride and Predjudice. I'm trying to convert dresses into shirts though I've only made one attempt so far and well the idea still needs a bit of work. I love everything oldfashioned I've always said I should have been born in the 1800's not the 1900's though I like the Victorian era as well. Heck let's face it I like everything before the 1950's.

Re: Mixing Politics and Fashion
I don't like getting into political discussions as a rule but have any of you thought for one minute where our future is heading with a muslim president? Or do you guys not care that our freedoms will be taken away slowly so you won't even notice? Or is it all right to call having to cover our heads a fashion statement? Where are all the feminists when you need them? They'll be the first to critisize someone for covering their head if they call themselves christian but if they're muslim then it's just a religious thing. Come on people wake up and smell the hypocricy! I'm an American Citizen that's what I'm proud of, Land of the Free because of the Brave. The pledge doesn't say "to the Republic" for nothing that's what this nation was founded as if you don't like it pack up and go home!

Any ideas on how to keep it from scrathing. I love linen rayon blends, which at this moment is all I can afford, and I've made several pants and things with this linen blend but I have one pair of pants that cuts up my waist every time I wear them. There are thousands of tiny little needle like fibres sticking out of the fabric is there anyway of shaving them off or should I just line the inside of my pants at the waist?
