After moving to the Big Apple, I had the lovely pleasure of working for several publications including Seventeen, Teen People, Cutting Edge, and Adorn. My work has also been featured in several publications including Adorn, Knit.1, BUST and other books and magazines.

posted: 1:47 pm on May 15thBecause you are using your hip measurement to draft the sides of the square, the square's diagonal will be much larger than your hip circumference. You won't need to add any more ease because of the diagonal's size and the stretch from the bias.

Shoulders = 1.5 x head length
Waist = head length
Hips = 1.5 x head length

The author is asking you to thread trace the lengthwise and crosswise grain on each piece of the garment. That way they will be easier to transfer to the pattern pieces. Does this answer your question?

posted: 11:50 am on January 21stBy hemming the front and back pieces separately you can add a flattering little vent at the side seams when you sew them. Don’t sew the seams all the way to the hem stop about 2 inches away. Press the seams open and topstitch the seam section to blen in with the hem. Sew the sleeves before hemming.
